On Saturday
8th March 2008, I held a charity evening at Rush Green Community Centre, to
raise awareness and funds for Sport Relief and John and Bridie's Batten Disease
Charity. |

| We had over 120 guests and together we raised over £500. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| The evening started with a display from the Elm Park Twirlers. Their younger members came down to entertain us with their skills. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| We then had to get our thinking caps on and get ready for our challenging quiz. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Teams battled it out for about an hour, trying there upmost to correctly answer quizmaster Dave's (Barking Ishinryu) tough questions. Whilst the adults were putting the knowledge to the test to win alcohol, chocolates more chocolates and a trophy, all the children were hard at work with their colouring masterpieces. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our quizmaster was then the judge of the colouring competition, he was very impressed with the talented youngsters and it took him a while to make a decision. The winner got a family day pass to Kidscape, colouring pencils an Easter egg AND a bigger trophy than the adults. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| The winners of the quiz went by the name of The Desperate Dan's. The team members consisting of Nicky and Paul, the Tointon family, the Bonas family, the Griffin family and the Gambletons. Well done team, a clear winner at the end. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Once
the quiz had finished and after a bit of re-arranging of the furniture, we created
our dance floor. It was time to get them dancing shoes on and boogie the night away. |

| We held a raffle which was drawn half way through the night, with some excellent prizes to be won. Ice skating tickets, football tickets, bowling tickets, bath sets, signed items, a huge Easter rabbit and lots of chocolate were amongst the prizes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| The evening was a tough event to organise but thanks to the support of many kind people it was a huge success. The money raised will make a big difference in both charities progression. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
